Youth Self Defense

The Jackson, Alabama Police Department offers youth self defense classes to teach young people the skills they need to protect themselves in threatening situations.

The program is open to all youth, regardless of skill level or experience, and focuses on practical techniques that are easy to learn and use.

During each class, participants learn how to properly use their bodies in self defense scenarios, including striking, blocking, and grappling techniques.

They also learn how to recognize potential dangers and how to avoid threatening situations altogether.

The program is designed to build confidence and self-esteem, teach discipline and respect, and promote positive lifestyle choices among young people.

The Jackson PD partners with local schools and community organizations to create a network of support and ensure that all youth have access to these important skills.
